Fred Olsen.

Fred Olsen Cruise Lines is a UK-based, Norwegian-owned cruise shipping line with four cruise ships.

Whilst working with London based design agency 'Else'; as part of a small team of 4-6, I was tasked with designing Fred Olsen's 2023 web experience. 

As well as working with brand assets provided by an external branding agency, we applied and expanded various parts of the updated brand and used this to build out a cohesive, easy-to-navigate design system, that was applied to the various pages of the new website.

Implementing brand elements

Working with an external branding agency, we were supplied various elements to use and translate across from print to the digital platform.

From UX to UI

Working alongside UX – myself and the team created a suite of high-fidelity visual designs, helping visualise pages for prototype and build.

Modules & Components

Each element was documented, from buttons to tags, cards and carousel modules. These made up a system of components that can be used across the various page designs.  

Elevated user experience

We identified three distinct browsing patterns among first-time visitors to Fred Olsen's website, which informed our decisions on specific areas for improvement. These targeted areas included the cruise itinerary page, search and booking pages, streamlined sign-ups with enhanced data capture, and overall improved user interactions.

Project involvement

My role enabled me to work on everything from initial brand concepts through to UX and UI designs, creating the design system and ultimately assisting the developers for build.
